Ms. Caroline Simumba

Executive Director, Africa Capacity Alliance (ACA)

Caroline Simumba, Executive Director of the Africa Capacity Alliance, has a background in Psychology and Public Health. Caroline has 20 years’ experience working in capacity building for HIV and AIDS and health.

She is an alumni of ACA, having trained in the eclectic approach to counselling at the Kenya Association of Professional Counsellors. Caroline previously worked as Training Manager for Kara Counselling and Training Trust (at the time a member institution of ACA).

Caroline brings a wealth of experience in health programme management. She formerly was Senior Advisor for Community Mobilization in PEPFAR’s Zambia Prevention Care and Treatment Programme. Caroline was also part of a team of researchers from FHI who investigated Task Shifting in the context of HIV CT as means to tackling health worker shortage in Zambia.

Caroline’s passion has always been community systems strengthening. She worked as Technical Support Specialist for the International HIV/AIDS Alliance, supporting coordinated comprehensive responses to HIV infection in Zambia through the capacity building of community based organizations. Caroline worked for the Swedish International Development Agency as a programme officer for the Regional HIV and AIDS Team based at the Embassy of Sweden in Lusaka.
