Dr. Nathan Kenya-Mugisha

President, Uganda Medical Association

Dr. Kenya is a pediatrician and a public health specialist. He holds a degree in medicine (MBchB) and a Master’s Degree in Paediatrics and Child Health from Makerere University, Kampala; a Master’s Degree in Public Health (MPH) from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, USA.

By the time of his retirement from Uganda Public Service 2011, he was serving as the Acting Director General Health Services and substantive Director Health Services in charge of Clinical and Community Directorate, Ministry of Health. He also acted as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health from February 2010 to July 2010.

He has worked as a Lecturer in the Dept. of Pediatrics and child Health, Makerere University; UNICEF Nairobi Regional Office as a Senior Project Officer (1998 to 2000), Malaria Consortium, Uganda (2011 to 2014) as a project manager. Currently he is working with IMAI-IMCI Alliance/Walimu in Uganda as Executive Director.

He is the President of Uganda Medical Association and sits on various Boards including Uganda Healthcare Federation.
